Driver Assessments Ireland is a Nation-wide service operating out of our Galway office for more than five years. Our professionalism and integrity is reflected in the quality of our team of assessors, our relationships with Healthcare Professionals and the trust they, our clients and their families place in us.

Each one of our assessors throughout the country is fully qualified, insured, garda vetted and RSA approved. With an average of twelve years experience each assessor has a strong history of experience. All our assessors’ individual compassion, empathy and understanding of clients circumstances is a key attribute brought to every assessment conducted by Driver Assessments Ireland.

DAI have instigated an internal ongoing education and training regime. Engaging experts in the arena of traffic medicine to upskill all our team ensuring our commitment to increasing knowledge, providing best practice, and resulting in a high level of quality and assurance for all stakeholders.

As a company DAI strive to deliver objective, understanding and fair treatment of all who may require a Driving Assessment. We maintain the confidentiality of any personal, privileged information to the highest standards. We use secure encrypted referral processes and being accepted as a Healthmail white site allows us to securely receive sensitive data from Healthcare Professionals directly from their Healthmail email accounts.

DAI provide a comprehensive driving tuition and driver assessment service to general practitioners, Hospital Consultants and their teams across all therapeutic areas, occupational therapists and other health professionals. We also provide this service to the wider public where someone may be concerned about the safety of a friend, family member or loved one.

The National Office for Traffic Medicine was established as a joint initiative between the Road Safety Authority and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, in 2010.

The NOTM is currently engaged in a consultation process within the industry looking at regulating agencies conducting assessments and ensuring appropriate standards are met. Driver Assessments Ireland are actively involved with the National Office for Traffic Medicine in this ongoing process and engage in a free flow of communication and information in assisting research and improving standards for all.

In February 2013, the Road Safety Authority, in conjunction with the National Office for Traffic Medicine * launched ‘Sláinte agus Tiomáint’ The Irish Medical Fitness to Drive Guidelines. It provides guidance on medical fitness for drivers of motor cars for private use and motorcycles. Before a referral for driver assessment, it is imperative that a driver complies with medical standards.

In Ireland, a person diagnosed with a disability, illness or medical condition that may affect their ability to drive safely, require permission from a registered medical practitioner before beginning, returning or continuing to drive. Failure to do so may render their car insurance policy void.

Drivers are also required to report to the Driving Licensing Authority when they become aware of a health condition that may affect their ability to drive safely.
